How can decluttering be taught as a life skill for homeschoolers?
Wendy’s Answer:
Decluttering can absolutely be taught as a life skill, especially in homeschool environments where learning is flexible and personalized.
For homeschoolers, decluttering isn’t about perfection or minimalism. It’s about:
Learning decision-making
Building independence
Reducing overwhelm
Creating systems that support daily routines and learning
When children learn how to organize their space, supplies, and responsibilities, they’re also learning executive-function skills they’ll use for life.
I work with families to teach decluttering step-by-step in a way that respects neurodivergence, learning styles, and emotional regulation.
